IN FLEETING EUPHORIA

With this new collection titled, “In Fleeting Euphoria”, Erwin Viado further delves into the intimate challenges of human connections during a global pandemic where social distancing is paramount to survival. In a generation attuned to instant gratification and the modern hook-up culture, Viado navigates how physical intimacy and sexual tensions intrinsically affect our approach to relationships and self-worth. The artist takes an inward view of his expectations and biases and the personal experiences of peers navigating a new normal, a new dynamic already laden with a dating scene so transient, that is both addicting and brutal.

Intimacy vs. sex, romance vs. detachment, openness vs. tension, flattery vs. truth, community vs. loneliness. In a culture of fast-paced digital connectivity, elevated hype, and glamorized reels, it's a struggle to look within one's values and expect an outward manifestation of genuine truthfulness and vulnerability. A balance intricately captured in Viado's work; defined by the fluidity of curvature and straight lines, and the contrived display of colors and emotions emanating space and restraint.
