BLURS AND SHIFTS: MOMENTS OF WANDER
To say this global pandemic has changed the course of people’s lives is a grave understatement. The effects of which will be felt for years, even for a lifetime. Due to social distancing and lack of intimate connections, humanity as a whole and people as individuals are forced to deal with innermost thoughts, desires, and anxieties.
This collection explores the moments in between the “blurs” of the future and the “shifts” in present realities. The moments where one wanders from hopefulness and gratitude to despair and anguish.
Viado portrays these internal conflicts through a juxtaposition of figures and images in an oddly calm and still atmosphere; belying the narrative that a positive disposition guarantees mental and emotional well-being. With the pieces’ apparent ambiguity, Viado evokes a series of shifting emotions brought about by moments of regret, sorrow, surrender, fear, loneliness, purpose, hope, and judgment.
