FRUITFUL IDENTITIES
In his signature probe into the complexity of human emotions and identities, Viado presents his newest collection FRUITFUL IDENTITIES, a collection of new paintings in collaboration with White Walls Gallery.
In striking pieces depicting an amalgamation of images and elements, Viado delves into the relationship of self-perceptions, first impressions, and societal labels. These relationships posit a fine line between self-damaging understanding of one’s self or an overwhelming awareness of one’s identity.
In this new collection, Viado aims to portray diverse interpretations of emotions and how these are presented to the world. A conflicting inward outward sense of identity – defined by one’s experiences, both wanted and unwanted. Whatever the reason for our identity apart from the truth of what is – to fit in society, to obscure the truth, to protect vulnerabilities, or as this generation says, “to live one’s best life.” All of these, and as with his collections to date, Viado transcends the vibrant whimsy of his paintings to a larger conversation of today’s world.
